CV Marshal’s Toy Ride Nov. 18

Planning is under way for the 10th annual Camp Verde Marshal’s Toy Ride, scheduled for Nov. 18.

The Toy Ride is an annual community event sponsored by the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office as a fundraiser to provide needy children and families in the area with gifts and food for the holidays.

Each year as the number of children and families helped by this charity has increased, the number of people and organizations that want to help has increased. Once again this year, the Marshal’s Office is joining forces with the American Legion for the event’s activities. This year the marshal’s office will plan and host the trail ride. The American Legion will host the dinner portion of the event.

This year’s trail ride will begin at the corner of Arizona 260 and Bullpen Road. The ride route will parallel Bullpen Road in an eastern direction, then turn south and break for lunch at the Clear Creek Campground.

Riders who participate in the trail ride should be mounted up and ready to ride by 9:30 a.m. Riders will need to bring their own horses. Fee for the ride is $10. Lunch will be provided. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the starting point.

The American Legion will host a benefit dinner at 6 p.m. Dec. 2. Cost of the dinner is $10. Last year’s American Legion dinner was a success and generated more than $1,000 for the toy ride.

As with last year’s event, two guns donated by Ernie’s Class III Weapons will be given away at the American Legion Dinner. This year a 300 Savage with a Simmons scope and a Benelli 12-gauge shotgun will be given away. Each gun will be given away separately. Tickets for a chance to win the guns are $1 each or six tickets for $5. Tickets may be purchased at Movie Shack, Ralston’s Outdoor Sports, the American Legion Post in Camp Verde, and the Marshal’s Office.
