Explorer stolen from driveway

A Ford Explorer was reportedly stolen from a driveway in the 1200 block of East Fir Street Monday morning.

According to the owner, the car was last seen about 4 a.m., the Cottonwood police reported. The keys were in the car and the door was unlocked.

An attempt to locate bulletin was issued to other police agencies in Yavapai County, police reported.

The Explorer is silver in color, with a luggage rack on the roof, off-road lights on the front bumper and a sticker on the windshield that states, "Fear This," police reported. The Arizona license plate number is MXP526.

Woman arrested for assault on police officers

A Cottonwood woman was arrested for assault Friday when she allegedly backed her car into two Clarkdale police officers during a traffic stop.

According to Clarkdale police, Skyla Hobbs, 22, was stopped about 5:30 p.m. on Minerich Road on a failure to appear warrant out of Clarkdale. When officers attempted to make an arrest, Hobbs allegedly put up a struggle and shifted her car into reverse causing the officers to lose their balance.

Following a short scuffle, the officers were able to subdue Hobbs and remove her from the vehicle, Clarkdale police said.

Officer Dave Fowler sustained a cut on his hand in the incident. Officer Tom Nester was uninjured, Clarkdale police said.

Hobbs was transported to the Yavapai County Jail in Camp Verde and booked on charges of attempting to escape, resisting arrest, aggravated assault on a police officer and the outstanding warrant.

Teen arrested after driving wrong direction

A Cottonwood teen was arrested Monday on suspicion of DUI after he was allegedly spotted driving the wrong way on an Interstate 17 off-ramp.

Daniel Sanchez Martinez, 17, was arrested shortly after midnight when he allegedly drove north on an I-17 southbound off-ramp at Arizona 260, Yavapai County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Sharon Wachter said.

Initially, Martinez lied about his name, but later told deputies the truth as well as confessing to smoking marijuana an hour earlier, Wachter said.

He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and giving false information to a police officer.
