Florence F. Metzger

A graveside memorial service was held Oct. 11 at the Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale for Florence Metzger.

Mrs. Metzger died Jan. 14 in Wichita, Kan.

She was 87 years old.

Mrs. Metzger retired from her position as librarian from Loma Linda University at the La Sierra Campus. She was a music teacher and church organist.

Survivors include her son, Roger Marvin of Kansas; a daughter, Barbara Jean Beckner of Texas; a sister, Gladys Baughman of Illinois; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Billy L. Alred

Clarkdale resident and World War II Navy veteran Billy Alred died Oct. 10.

He was 71 years old.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. in Calvary Chapel, burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. in the Westcott Funeral Home.

Mr. Alred was born June 30, 1929 in Houston.

A baker for over 25 years, Mr. Alred retired from Rainbo Baking Company.

He was a former member of the American Legion.

Survivors include four sons, William D. Alred and Larry M. Alred of Arkansas, Robert L. Alred of Cottonwood and Daniel Alred of Camp Verde; a brother, Emmett Alred of Tempe; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

His wife, Alice Alred, preceded him in death in 1999.

Memorial donations in Mr. Alred’s name may be made to the Calvary Chapel, 465 S. Calvary Way, Cottonwood, 86326.
