Walter Shreckengost

Veteran Walter Shreckengost died Aug. 7 at the age of 77.

Mr. Shreckengost is the brother of Donald Shreckengost of Cottonwood.

He was a graduate of Rising City High School and served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Shreckengost was employed at Kindlers Mobile Service for many years and retired from David City, Neb.

Survivors include his brother Donald of Cottonwood, a sister, Doris Kindler of Scottsdale and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held at Knotts Funeral Chapel in Nebraska Aug. 10.

Burial services were held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Jay Marcell

Cottonwood resident Jay Marcell died Aug. 14.

He was 69 years old.

Mr. Marcell was born July 25, 1932 in Washington, DC.

A retired senior construction inspector for the City of Phoenix, he also worked as an inspector for the City of Flagstaff from 1967 to 1979.

Mr. Marcell was a life member of the Elks Lodge #499.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Betty Mae Marcell; a son, Michael Lewis Marcell of Glendale; two sisters, Cecilia Humiston of Las Vegas and Frances Hannon of New Orleans; a brother, William Langley of New York ad two grandchildren, Gillian Nicole Marcell and Nicholas Michael Marcell.

A memorial service is scheduled Saturday at 10 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 1450 E. Fir St. in Cottonwood.
