A new office and new opportunities for you

He would be amazed if he saw our office in the Fort Verde Plaza Shopping Center in Camp Verde — the home of the Camp Verde Bugle.

He wouldn’t know what to think about the Internet version of our newspaper, Verde Valley Online.

And, beginning Monday, he would be dazzled at the extent of the operations of Verde Valley Newspapers, Inc., if he walked into our newest office in West Sedona. It’s now the official home for Kudos — the Buena Vista Building, 1730 W. Arizona 89A, Suite 4, in West Sedona (corner of 89A and Mountain Shadows Drive, next to Top Shelf Liquors).

Mr. Brann was the first owner, publisher, editor, coffee-maker and janitor of The Verde Independent. He purchased all the parts of an unassembled flatbed press from the Holbrook Tribune. The building, an old Quonset hut, was purchased as part of a government surplus after World War II.

Mr. Brann had the building re-assembled on a foundation of river rock at 116 S. Main St. The first issue of The Verde Independent rolled off his press and hit the streets of Cottonwood on Feb. 12, 1948.

At 10-cents a copy, it was the best deal in the Verde Valley.

Kudos has become the talk of the town in Sedona, not to mention the entire Verde Valley. It has only gotten better with the recent addition of Michelle Borgwardt to our staff. We recruited Michelle all the way from Abilene, Texas, and her writing skills and graphics expertise have taken Kudos to a whole new level.

So, our expansion into Red Rock Country was only natural.

Complementing our new presence in Sedona will be the debut of a classified advertising section in Kudos beginning with the Feb. 19 edition. And, with that expansion of Kudos, comes a new concept in classified advertising in the Verde Valley.

Beginning Feb. 10, our classified advertising will be sold on a weekly basis, giving you three publications to get your message out on everything from garage sales to employment needs to babysitting services.

We no longer will sell classified ads on a one-, two- or three-time basis, but instead on a weekly basis and you get to choose the distribution method that’s best for you. For example, a one-week purchase offers the option of a Wednesday run in Kudos followed by a Friday-Sunday followup in The Verde Independent/Bugle.

Or, you can elect to go with a Wednesday-Friday-Sunday message exclusively in the Independent/Bugle. It’s up to you. Whatever best suits your needs.

With the opening of our new Sedona office, there undoubtedly will be more new offerings from our publications in the months ahead, so stay tuned.

Dick Brann would be mighty proud of us.

Dan Engler is the editor of Verde Valley Newspapers, Inc.
