Kiwanis convention a huge success
On behalf of the Kiwanis Club of Camp Verde, I would like to thank the whole community for their warm-hearted reception of visiting Kiwanians during the Mid-Winter Training Conference of the Southwest District of Kiwanis, held in Camp Verde last week.
Our community, as well as our club, received a standing ovation during the board meeting as a result of a job well done on the convention and also for the kindness shown to all the visitors.
We would also like to thank the following people for their donations: Cindy from Signcrafters of Camp Verde, Bashas’ of Camp Verde for the Welcome Kiwanis sign, Camp Verde United Christian School and K-Kids for the cardboard decorations and boots, Linda Page of the Pottery Studio for painting the bathroom walls in the Community Center, Camp Verde High School Art Department teacher and students for their excellent artwork, Camp Verde High School Key Club for all their help, CTS Office supply for the registration envelopes, Jim from Insightable Computers for the loan of a computer and printer; as well as the time he took for setting it up, Pat Schultz of Verde Valley Medical Center for raffle gifts, Ace Hardware for the donation of gifts, Ed Berry of Radio Shack for his generous donations.
Special thanks to Ida Pieratt and her wonderful staff at the Camp Verde Schools Cafeteria; they served two wonderful meals and kept smiles on their faces throughout the whole long day, also Ken Jameson and his assistant for setting up all the rooms at the school for our education classes and putting many extra hours. Paul Robinson of Robinson Golf carts loaned us two “people movers,” without which many would not have been able to move.
Our gratitude to Babe’s Round-Up for an excellent meal, excellent service and several good laughs. Thank you to Dairy Queen for putting up a “Welcome Kiwanis” sign and to any other businesses that may have done the same. We received several compliments on the staff at the Super 8, thank you. A very, very special thank you to Merrilee Fowler and the staff at the Comfort Inn. This group went over and above to make sure all the needs of the guests were met. The hotel served as Convention headquarters and there was never a slow moment. We would also like to thank the Camp Verde Bugle for its wonderful coverage of our convention.
Finally, a big hand for the decorating committee of the Kiwanis Club of Camp Verde for having the vision of what the Community Center could become and making it a reality. Hope that I have not forgotten anyone, but there are so many to thank that I may have skipped someone, if so, please accept my apology.
It is people like all of those listed above that make one proud to be a member of this community and the Kiwanis Club of Camp Verde. Thank you all.
