Mardi Gras Comes to the Verde Valley

The Verde Valley Chamber Mixer started at 6:30 p.m. at attracted about 100 revelers, some clad in Mardi Gras costumes, some not, but all attended had a New Orleans style blast with live music by the Inner Basin Street Blues Band from Flagstaff and great Cajun food by Cliff Castle Casino. Ron Luczak, executive director of Camp Verde Chamber of Commerce said that all members of chambers of commerce for the Verde Valley were invited to attend, including the Sedona, Prescott and Flagstaff chambers of commerce. Attendees donned colorful masks and the traditional bead necklaces to celebrate Fat Tuesday. "We're thrilled about this event because chamber members can meet with people in their communities and network with other chambers," he said. "We are doing what they are doing in New Orleans in preparation for Lent and we have people from Sedona, Prescott and Flagstaff attending." He said that the admission was $5 and all proceeds from the admission fee and the raffle benefit the Camp Verde Chamber of Commerce. Pete Sesow, executive director of the Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce said, "This is a great place, with great food and great entertainment. This is a fun way to support local chambers."
