Train the Diamondbacks way this summer

Arizona Diamondbacks Training Centers will make three local stops this summer.

The camps for baseball players ages 7-12 will be in Cottonwood the week of June 28-July 2 and in Camp Verde and Sedona the week of July 12-16.

The Cottonwood session will run from 8-11:30 a.m. at Cottonwood Middle School. Camp Verde’s session will be from 8-11:30 a.m. at Butler Park. The Sedona session is at Big Park School and will be held from 6-9:30 p.m.

Diamondbacks Training Centers feature a curriculum endorsed by the D-Backs staff and will be matched to the age and skill level of the student. Instructors are hand-picked by the organization to teach the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, throwing, base running and specific position play.

Camp sizes are limited with the student-to-instructor ratio at about 1:10.

Registration fees cost $150 per player and include a T-shirt, cap, sports bag and two tickets to a 2004 Diamondbacks regular season home game. A portion of the proceeds from the camp benefit Arizona Diamondbacks Charities.

The Diamondbacks will hold close to 100 Training Centers this summer. Other Northern Arizona sessions include Prescott Pioneer Park (baseball and softball) and Prescott Valley Bradshaw Mountain.
