Betty L. Ellsworth

Betty Lenore Ellsworth, 85, of Prescott, formerly of Cottonwood, died Aug. 30, 2005. She was born Jan. 15, 1920, in Des Moines, Iowa.

She attended Roosevelt High School and Capitol City Commercial College in Des Moines, Iowa.

Ms. Ellsworth was a retired bookkeeper for Cottonwood Water Works where she worked for 19 years. She was a member of the Verde Valley Church of the Nazarene.

Her hobbies included watercolor painting, ceramics, rock hounding and reading.

She is survived by her daughters, Roberta L. "Bobbie" Dieckman of Prescott and Mary D. Ellsworth of Dewey; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

William T. Carothers

William "Bill" Thomas Carothers, 77, of Clarkdale, died Aug. 30, 2005. He was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Muskogee, Okla.

He was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army.

He attended a one-room schoolhouse in Oklahoma. Mr. Carothers retired from the City of Torrance (Calif.) Water Department.

Previously he had worked in the Climax, Colo., Millennium Mine, as a ranch cowboy, in lumber mills in Oregon, in the oil fields of Oklahoma and as an engineer on the railroad.

He enjoyed country dancing and his family.

He leaves his wife Sharon Carothers; daughters, Sharlene Jackson of Simi Valley, Calif., Suzanne Morrison of Fort Collins, Colo., and Sheila Celaya of Palm Desert, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Gertrude 'Betty' Price

Gertrude Alice "Betty" Price, 78, of Cottonwood, died Aug. 27, 2005. She was born Feb. 6, 1926, in Durham, England.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed birds, cooking, sewing, traveling, gardening and puzzles. She was a member of the Verde Valley Humane Society.

Her husband of 36 years, David R. Price, preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son, David R. (and his wife Karen) Price Jr.; daughters, Karen (and her husband Brian) Billadeau, Elizabeth (and her husband Scott) Hamilton, Debra (and her husband Gary) Charlan, Lynn (and Phil) Tyo and Cindy (and her husband Mike) Brockwam, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

There are no public services planned.
