Mingus finished up its preseason schedule against Bradshaw Mountain on Saturday. The Marauders routed the Bears, 17-13.
Brandon Holmes led the Marauders going 4-for-4 with five RBIs and a homerun. Tyler Butler, Billy Grand, Pat Moran and Sean Simonz all went 2-for-4 for a total of six RBIs and a double.
Heading into the second half of the season, the Marauders are 9-5 and holding the second spot in the region. The Marauder baseball team is no stranger to success, and this year looks to be no different.
Holmes has really become a powerhouse for the Marauders this year. He is second in the region with a .469 batting average and is first in the region with three homeruns and 28 RBIs. In fact, Holmes, Matt Durnez and Grant hold the top three spots in the region in RBIs.
Holmes is also doing an impressive job at second base, snagging just about every ball that is in or near his territory.
As the first half of the season comes to a close, Mingus leads the 4A II Grand Canyon region in the power rankings with a 28.8. Coconino is second with a distant 20.8.
The Marauders’ rival game against Flagstaff was cancelled due to bad weather, but the Marauders are back on track to face the Eagles on Saturday at home for a double header. The games will begin at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
