Cowboys edge Scorpions on the road

The Camp Verde girls basketball team took on the Sedona Scorpions Tuesday night in Sedona. The game remained close throughout four tough quarters, and it were the Cowboys who pulled out the win, 56-51.

Camp Verde came out better on offense then the Scorpions, scoring 12 points to the home team's four. In the second quarter, both teams found their rhythm, but again, the Cowboys stayed on top, outscoring Sedona 30-16 by halftime.

Sedona took the time to make some adjustments and came out going shot-for-shot with Camp Verde. Sedona etched into their deficit by one point and the Cowboys still led 42-29.

The game looked like it was almost in the bag for Camp Verde, but the Scorpions came out agressively in the fourth quarter. The Scorpions outscored the Cowboys 22-14 in the fourth quarter and the Cowboys held on to the lead for the 4-point win.

The Cowboys head to the Round Valley Tournament and then travel to Cottonwood on Tuesday to take on the Mingus Marauders.
