Letter: They're true professionals, and a friend when you need one

Editor:

I recently had a chance to see our 9-11 operators and emergency personnel in action.

I count my blessings the situation wasn't as dire as I thought. Due to a mix of circumstances, I thought my 85-year-old surrogate mother and dearest friend was in danger. Fortunately, she was OK, and the Cottonwood police, fire and emergency personnel went to her home to make sure she was safe.

More than that, I thank the kind fire officer who tried to comfort me when my concern became more than I could bear at the time. I was too upset to see his name, but I thank him for his concern, pat on the back and reassuring words that it was alright to be a friend no matter what the outcome.

I say thank you to all of you police officers, firemen, and rescue personnel who went out in the rain and cold and didn't make me seem like an idiot for caring. We are lucky to have you!
