The Camp Verde track team traveled to Chino Valley on Saturday. The boys team finished fifth out of 11 teams while the girls team finished a strong third behind Sedona Red rock and Chino Valley.
Top Cowboys that finished in the top 10 were: Aaron Godfrey, who placed 9th overall in the 800-meter run. Coleton Williams finished 6th in the 1600-meter run, followed by Damien Watkins in 9th. Williams also finished 5th in the 3200-meter run in a time of 11:36.64.
Jacob Wolfe finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles and third in the 300-meter hurdles.
On the girls team, Ashley Petefish finished 8th in the 100-meter dash and 8th in the 400-meter dash.
In the 800-meter run, Jessica Regan placed 6th in a time of 2:43.44 and she finished 4th in the 1600-meter run in a time of 6:19.44. Regan was followed by teammates Marley Fish in 6th in the and Jessica Reay in 11th in the 1600.
In the 3200-meter run, Liz Hicks took an impressive 1st place and led the pack with a time of 13:54.64, about 20 seconds faster than her nearest competitor. Marley Fish finished 3rd with a time of 14:50.84.
In the hurdle events, Cassie Spleiss finished 3rd in the 100-meter race with a time of 17.44.
The girls relay team finished 5th in the 4x100 relay with a time of 58.74 to score four points for the Cowboys. In the 4x400 relay, Camp Verde finished 4th with a time of 4:38.84. In the 4x800 relay, the Cowboys placed 3rd with a time of 11:11.14.
In the high jump, Camp Verde's Cassi Spleiss finished 4th overall with a height of 4-feet, 6-inches. This was followed by teammate Anna Bassous with a jump of 4-feet.
Spleiss also scored points for her team in the triple jump with a distance of 26-feet, 6.5-inches to take fourth place.
Jordan Trammell continues to do well for the Cowboys in the throwing events. She placed 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 30-feet, 6.5-inches. Trammell also dominated in the discus throw, placing first with a distance of 106-feet, 2-inches, about five feet farther than anyone else. Liz Hicks placed 5th in the event with a throw of 74-feet, 10-inches.
The Cowboys finished up their regular schedule with this meet in Chino Valley. Next up for the team will be the regional meet on Saturday, May 5 at Red Mesa.
