Saturday's 15th annual Children's Celebration will take place from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Cottonwood Civic Center in Old Town Cottonwood.

The purpose of the 15th annual Children's Celebration is to introduce members of the community to programs and opportunities available for Verde Valley children birth through twelve years of age. Buena Vista Children's Services sponsors this event each year in honor of Child Abuse Prevention awareness month.

Among activities provided free of charge for the children are: creating with play dough; easel painting; eco-art; face painting; temporary tattoos; rock painting; glitter creations; water color dot art; sand and water tables; and a science table complete with slippery slime. For the Tigger's in our community, there will be a jumping castle for your bouncing needs. "Goody bags" will be given to first 300 children who attend the celebration.

Representatives from local organizations such as Head Start, Girl Scouts, Summer Youth Programs, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Discovery Connection, County Health Services, and ACTION Partnership to name a few of the numerous organizations on hand to give parents information. Fingerprinting of children and identification pictures are done free of charge. From our health care community will be representatives from Sanson Pediatrics, Red Rock Pediatrics, Woodford Orthodontics, and Arizona Early Intervention Program. In the past we have had performances by local students of Light Vibe, The Dance Center, Tae Kwon Do Unlimited and Flip City.

This year there will be fun inexpensive carnival games including a cakewalk and a rock-climbing wall. Animaland (similar to Build-a-Bear) will be there for kids to choose, stuff and dress their own collectible animals. This year's silent auction will be featuring a girl's bicycle, dinners from local restaurants and much, much more. Live broadcast by Yavapai Broadcasting will provide music and fun!
