Letter: What a diatribe

Editor:

Having lived the majority of my years in big cities (Milwaukee, Phoenix), and only 12 years ago moved to the Verde Valley, I have been astounded by the way a small town newspaper is used by a few people to become their soapbox to say whatever is on their minds, factual or not. Paul Lidbeck is a prime example of what I am talking about.

Talk about your Swift Boaters!

His letter on Wednesday's opinion page really gave me the chuckles. I have voted Republican in roughly two-thirds of the presidential elections since I was eligible to vote. And John McCain is, after all, an Arizonan.

But this year, because of people like Mr. Lidbeck, I will vote for hope and change and for a man with "no experience" and his running mate who hasn't held a "worthwhile job" in his 36 years in congress, according to Paul Lidbeck.

I don't think anybody really cares whom I vote for, just as I don't care whom Paul Lidbeck votes for, but I thought if he has to say all the negative things he can think of about any Democrat, I have to answer. Paul Lidbeck, I crown thee King of Diatribe!
