The AZ Republic's Sunday editorial says "...it (the auto bailout) was crafted to be a limited rescue tool, not an open-ended subsidy." Hogwash! It was a gutless, and probably unconstitutional, move by Bush to pass the problem to Obama. Their assumption that "a failure...would be a devastating financial blow.." will be just as true 3-6 months from now and should be dealt with immediately so we can get on with a recovery. Without a bankruptcy to allow complete reorganization, the UAW will refuse to deal realistically, depending on their friends in congress to protect their interests - even at the cost of nationalizing the industry.
This final episode of his presidency reveals a "compassionate conservative" for what it really means - a big government liberal in sheep's clothing.
