Golden Anniversary

Kay and Barbara Connolly celebrate 50 years of married life together. Both Kay and Barbara grew up in the Verde Valley, where they both attended and graduated Cottonwood High School in Clemenceau. Kay went on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints after high school. He then served two years in the U.S. Army. Barbara attended her freshman year at Eastern Arizona College. She was working for First National Bank in Cottonwood when Kay came home from the Army. Kay found that his little sister's best friend was all grown up. He got home February 1958, they were engaged in April and married on May 24, 1958. Kay graduated from NAU and became a teacher. He taught and coached basketball for 28 years at Cottonwood Jr. High. Barbara worked and retired from Valley National Bank after 25 years. Their children Stephen (Colette), Tammy (Dave), Todd (Kim), Robin (Jonathan), Carrie (Phil), and Shawn (Sadie) hosted a celebration party in their honor May 31, at the LDS Church. All of their children have graduated from Mingus Union High School. Over 150 family and friends attended. They have 21 grandchildren. Their motto "family is everything" has been the key to their happiness and success.
