Long time Sedona/Verde Valley residents, Dick and Elaine Scalf, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception hosted by their family. The anniversary celebration will take place at the Verde Village Club House from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, June 1. Dick lived in Sedona five years before meeting the former Elaine Estes. The couple was married on June 1, 1958, at the Wayside Chapel in Sedona. Rev. Robert Jackson officiated the ceremony. Except for a two-year period when Dick was in the Army, stationed in El Paso, Texas, the couple has lived their married life in Sedona and the Verde Valley. They have one son Jeffrey, born in 1970; they also have four grandchildren. Elaine operated a beauty shop in Sedona for years, while Dick ran a wholesale milk business and later worked in the construction trade. More recently, the Scalfs owned and operated a hobby shop in Sedona for almost 20 years. Friends are invited to help celebrate this once in a lifetime occasion. No gifts please.
