Sand bags available when needed
We are not likely to see a hurricane like Gustav, Hannah or Josephine, but Merry Shanks of the Verde Valley Fire District reminds homeowners that when waters rise and flooding is a possibility, many fire stations are stocked with sand and sand bags, including VVFD stations on Godard Rd. and in the Cornville Station #32.
In Cottonwood, sand and bags are also available through the city street department.
Interstate rollover accident
The Montezuma-Rimrock Fire District crews were called to a one-vehicle rollover accident Sunday afternoon on the Interstate. A vehicle with a female occupant rolled about milepost 302 in the northbound lane. The woman was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center with non-life threatening.
Fire crews report the roadway was wet at the time of the accident and urge drivers to drive according to road conditions.
