Cottonwood Baptist welcomes new pastor

Pastor Fird Becker has accepted the call to become the new pastor at Cottonwood Baptist Church.

He has arrived in Cottonwood with his wife, Kathy, and two of their daughters, Hanna (14), and Caroline (12).

Pastor Becker and Kathy are actually returning to their Southwest roots by coming to Arizona from East Texas. The Beckers have spent many years in ministry here in Arizona, and they are quite pleased to be settling in Cottonwood.

"Cottonwood Baptist Church is a wonderful church with a vision to reach this local community for Jesus Christ, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to lead this congregation and have an impact on the Verde Valley" Pastor Becker stated.

Church member Russ Wallison says of Pastor Becker, "We are all very excited to have a godly man like Pastor Becker come to Cottonwood Baptist. He has a wonderful preaching style, and his godly family sets a great example for other local families."

The Beckers have served as missionaries to Native American tribes in Arizona, and Pastor Becker has served as senior pastor at churches in Palo Verde, and also in Oklahoma.

According to Becker, "It is great for people to know their pastor on a personal level. I look forward to meeting the people of the Verde Valley, and being a help to this local congregation. We all look forward to reaching the people of this community with the gospel message."

Cottonwood Baptist Church is a Bible-based Independent Baptist Church meeting at 102 E. Pima Street in Old Town Cottonwood. The church family welcomes all visitors to its traditional-style services.

Sunday School classes for all ages begin at 9:45 am, and Sunday worship services are held at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Regular Bible study and prayer meetings are also offered on Wednesday evenings at 7.
