The Cottonwood Children's Celebration returns April 18, 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., at the Cottonwood Civic Center in Old Town Cottonwood.
The purpose of the 16th annual Children's Celebration is to introduce members of the community to programs and opportunities available for Verde Valley children birth through 12 years of age. Buena Vista Children's Services sponsors this event each year in honor of Child Abuse Prevention awareness month.
Some of the activities provided free of charge for the children are: creating with play dough; craft necklaces; eco-art; face painting; temporary tattoos; rock painting; planting seeds; hands-on sensory tables among other fun experiences. For the Tiggers in our community, there will be a jumping castle for your bouncing needs. We have goody bags to give away to the first 300 children who attend the celebration. Also this year we'll have carnival games, cakewalks and a rock-climbing wall for minimal fees and maximum fun.
Representatives from such local organizations as Head Start, Charter and Preschools, Summer Youth Programs, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, The Discovery Connection, County Health Services, Goof & Giggle and Music for Tots to name a few, will on hand to give parents information and have free activities for the kids.
Fingerprinting of children and identification pictures are done free of charge. Representatives from our health care community will be present, such as Healthy Horizons, Red Rock Pediatrics, and Woodford Orthodontics. There will be performances by local students of Cottonwood Jammin' Jumpers, The Cottonwood Elementary Choir, Tae Kwon Do Unlimited and Flip City.
As always, we will have a silent auction that will be featuring dinners from local restaurants, rounds of golf, Grand Canyon Railway tickets and much, much more. Live broadcast by Yavapai Broadcasting will provide music and fun.
