Ruth Owen Derrick 1914 - 2009

Ruth Owen Derrick, 94, died Feb. 9, 2009. She was born May 15, 1914, in Pueblo, Colo., to Claude C. and Maude B. Pedrick.

Ruth was a graduate of Clarkdale High School. She married Joe Derrick in 1934 and started married life in Clarkdale; later, moving to Sedona to live for 39 years, before moving to Clarkdale for the remainder of her years.

Ruth was a devoted wife and homemaker. She loved her family and her pets. Ruth had many hobbies; sewing, decorating her home, painting pictures and tending her plants. She loved company.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Joe; her daughter Carol Ann Cabbage and great grand-daughter Erica Miller. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Fish of Clarkdale, grand-children Karol VandenBosch of Glenns Ferry, ID, Danni K Tilman of Cottonwood, Kim Mejia of Phoenix, Jamie K. Christensen of Kalispell, Mont., Derek Nelson of French Town, Mont. and Robin D. Grainger of Queen Creek; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous grand and great grand nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Feb. 23, 2 p.m., at Greer Mortuary, Sedona.
