Our thanks to all Village litter lifters. Over and above the dedicated Keep Sedona Beautiful (KSB) volunteers assigned to remove litter along major roads, we're seeing neighbors out there making litter disappear as they walk our secondary streets.
Why not take it to another level and devote energy to preventing litter- the ultimate solution. You can individually contribute, within your own sphere of control, by not littering, by educating others and by taking reusable bags to the store, not just when grocery shopping.
It's a learned behavior; I often forget my reusable bags if I do not place them in the front passenger area of the car. Eliminating use of the infamous plastic grocery bag can reduce energy used to produce them and eventually ban them from our landscape.
Questions have been raised about the litter created by the landscape work along SR 179. ADOT representatives have assured KSB that contractors are cooperating and plan to remove litter in their work area. Maybe as a Spring project, we should check your own property for litter and items that could be discarded. Items with value but no longer needed could be donated to Paw Prints Thrift Shop here in the Village.
You'll be helping care for all the cats and dogs at the Sedona Humane Society Shelter and from personal experience, you will feel good about it, maybe have a cleaner garage plus a tax-deductible donation to an outstanding community humanitarian organization. Visit the new shelter for another special experience.
Be sure to check out KSB at keepsedonabeautiful.org or contact us at email@example.com or 282-4938. When you support KSB, you support the preservation of this beautiful place.
