Max Serafini 1925 - 2009

Max Serafini of Camp Verde passed away June 10, 2009 at the age of 84, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Doris Ann; his children and their spouses, Karen and Bill Wiedemann, Connie and Randy Vohs, Jay Serafini and John and Gail Serafini; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and his airplane, Victor. His beloved daughter, Deb died in 1999. Born January 17, 1925, Max grew up in Barton County, Missouri.

After graduating from high school in 1943, he served in the US Army during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement during the Leyte Campaign in the Pacific Theater. He graduated fro the Missouri School of Mines with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1950. He and D.A married on June 1, 1951 and moved to Denver, Colorado in 1955, where he was a founder and partner of one of the largest engineering firms in Colorado for 30 years. After relocating to Arizona in 1988, he established a solo surveying and engineering practice, retiring at the age of 80. Max's passion was flying. A private pilot for 57 years, he flew regularly from his and D.A's home at Montezuma Heights Airpark, and was greatly respected for his flying skills. His last flight was a month before his death. Max was a loving husband and father and a man of intelligence and integrity throughout his life. He will be in the hearts of his many family and friends forever.
