Local martial artists and fighters to show off skills in exhibition

MIDDLE VERDE -- Yavapai-Apache Recreation and Golden Cobra Center of Fitness is hosting the Ultimate Warrior Battle on Saturday, June 20.

The event will take place at the Middle Verde Gym, located at 2400 Datsi Street in Middle Verde. Doors open at 3 p.m. and the action will begin at 4 p.m.

The event will include martial arts exhibitions from KC's Family Tae Kwon Do & Tumbling, Tae Kwon Do Unlimited and Golden Cobra Center of Fitness. There will also be a special appearance by Sensei Master Sam Plunkett.

Performing for KC's Family Tae Kwon Do will be Izzy Housenga (16), Cody Zellner (14), Danna Hunton (16), April Moser (14), Luke Jonas (10) and Ms. Kathy Tucker, Instructor. After the demonstrations, then there will be sparring exhibitions matches between Moser and Hunton and Zellner and Housenga.

There will also be kickboxing and boxing matches. Richard Williams with Golden Cobra hopes to have nine kickboxing bouts and up to 15 boxing matches.

Some of the fighters representing Golden Cobra are Andres Ponce, Javier Mestas, Adam Bean, Jesse Durran, Alex Montano and Santiago Lomeli.

The events planned will no doubt be hours of entertainment from local martial artists. Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for kids (5-16), kids under five are free or a family pack can be purchased for $25.
