Letter: Cottonwood Airport Appreciation Day a top-notch event

Kudos to all who made Cottonwood Airport Appreciation Day a huge success. It takes an idea and someone to be the "pilot in command," however it takes many volunteers to make it "get it off the ground."

Thank you to the community for coming out to support this event. Thank you to all the pilots who flew in from all parts Arizona. Thank you to Mayor Joens, Cottonwood City Council, Cottonwood Airport Commission and Al Gradijan, chairman of the commission, for supporting and promoting the airport and general aviation.

It was so special that the event honored World War II ace fighter pilot, Ralph Wandrey, who along with many other veterans we owe our thanks to for the freedoms we enjoy every day. Thank you to the sponsors, volunteers and the clean-up crew.

The list is long of those folks to thank for such a special event.
