Lyle J. Vice

Lyle J. Vice, 84, of Lake Montezuma died August 27 in Mesa. He was born May 18, 1925 in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Lyle A. and Gertrude (Hill) Vice.

He attended Peoria Elementary schools and was a graduate of Western Illinois University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree and also Northern Arizona University where he received his Master of Arts degree.

He served his country in the Army during World War II.

Mr. Vice was a retired teacher and principal and also worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He was a coach and referee for high school and college sports. He founded "Paradise" Boys Camp for Apache youth. He also directed school choirs.

His hobbies included golf, hunting, fishing and singing. His family will always remember that "he did his way".

He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Ann McDaniel Vice and son Daniel Vice.

He leaves a son, Mark Vice (Jeanette) of New Mexico; daughters, Cindy Holcombe (Dick), Suzie Baca (Pat), and Rev. Patricia Parsons (Larry), all of Arizona; sister Anna Lee Leseure; and lifelong friends Glenn and Mary Lou Perdue of Illinois; ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The family has held a memorial service August 29 at the Montezuma Chapel.
