Anne Lee Evans 1926 - 2009

Anne Lee Evans

Anne Lee Evans

Anne Lee Evans, 82, of Cottonwood, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 4, 2009. She was born in Sweetwater, Texas December 9, 1926, the oldest child of Robert "Homan" Green and Leola Abigail Taylor. They moved to Phoenix in 1928, just before her brother was born. Anna Lee graduated from North Phoenix High School, Phoenix College and Grand Canyon University. She taught elementary school until a stroke forced her to take a medical retirement.

Her father was a broom maker and nurseryman while her mother was a homemaker. Her maternal grandmother, Anna Missouri Guess Taylor lived with the family most of Anna Lee's younger years. Anna Lee's smile and warm personality caused people to remain lifelong friends, many of whom she would hear from regularly.

She lived in the Phoenix area until moving to Cottonwood in 1972. Then, she became active in the garden club and El Valle group of artists. She entered many of her paintings in various exhibits and fairs, winning numerous ribbons.

Preceding her in death were her parents, sister Nina Fosberg, brother Robert Green, and ex-husbands, Charles Druding and Harry Evans.

She leaves behind daughters, Carol Bonnet (Daniel) of Cottonwood and Sharon Daigle (Bob) of Queen Creek, son Kevin Druding of Clarkdale, grandsons Timothy Meyers of Taft, Oklahoma, Stephen Paap (Allison) of Escondido, California and David Paap (Shayla) of Gilbert, great-granddaughters Stephanie Meyers of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Madalyn Paap of Gilbert, Lauren Paap of Escondido, California and a sister, Dona Ely (Richard) of Lake Montezuma. We will miss her wonderful personality but are assured we will one day be together again.

Memorial service will be Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Verde Baptist Church, 102 S. Willard St., Cottonwood, Arizona at 11 a.m.

Donations in her memory may be made to Arizona Walk to Emmaus, P O Box 86309, Phoenix, AZ 85080-6309
