Shakespeare's most delightful comedy of errors takes the stage at Canyon Moon Theatre April 8-24. Twelfth Night features silly lovers and ale-loving knights, all chasing each other in a musical romp that leads inevitably to marriage with a few stops along the way.
The romantic complications multiply as Duke Orsino sends Cesario - who is actually Viola - to woo the beautiful and celibate Olivia in his name. Orsino soon learns that it is foolhardy to send a boy to do a man's work, especially if he's a girl! Add to the brew the ever-tipsy Sir Toby Belch and the foolish knight, Sir Andrew Aguecheek, who join forces with the fun-loving Maria to marry Olivia off to Sir Andrew and to dupe the puritanical steward Malvolio into believing Olivia loves him. Twelfth Night will keep you smiling, chortling and laughing as missing twins, mistaken identities, sword play and disguises tell the story of mismatched lovers and fools.
