Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church President Wanda Stange has signed a lease for Spirit of Joy’s new Worship Center located at 101 S. Main St. in Cottonwood.

After more than 12 years renting from the Seventh-day Adventist Church and with about two years before the congregation will complete a building project on their land in Clarkdale, they are spreading their wings into St. Anthony Plaza (next to A Scoop Above and across from Dairy Queen).

John Diets, vice president of Spirit of Joy and chair of the Property Committee, is coordinating the effort of turning what had been retail space into a church home.  The 137 members of the congregation have pitched in, donating their time and money for all of the necessary accoutrements necessary to be ready for the first worship services on Jan. 24 at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

In this new space, Spirit of Joy will be able to offer worship, education, and fellowship events throughout the week.  Beginning in February, the congregation will offer Lenten worship both on Wednesdays at noon and on Thursdays at 7 p.m.  All are welcome.

The church office number is (928) 634-4102 and the Web site is spiritofjoyctwood.org.
