Election forum Wednesday at Spook Hall

JEROME - Candidates for town council will address issues and answer questions Wednesday night at Spook Hall from 6:30 to 8. The Jerome Chamber of Commerce and the League of Women voters of Sedona - Verde Valley sponsor the election forum.

Jerome elects its full council of five members every two years. This year the town is rich with candidates seeking to fill those five open seats. Seven qualified candidates have entered the race and completed all of the necessary paperwork and petitions.

Three incumbent council members seek reelection, and four challengers hope to fill some of the available seats.

Incumbents running for reelection are Lew Currier, Anne Bassett and Vice Mayor Jay Kinsella. Mayor Al Palmieri and council member Ron Richie are not running to stay on the council.

Challengers are Christine Barag, Jacob Marx, Mike Parry and Lisa Rappaport.

The format for Wednesday's forum will allow all candidates to introduce themselves, talk about the issues and respond to audience questions.

Robyn Prud'homme Bauer of Clarkdale will serve as moderator for the candidate forum.

The Town of Jerome uses Vote-by-Mail ballots only. The last day to register to vote is Feb. 9. Ballots will be mailed to registered voters during the week of Feb. 15.

Primary election day is March 9.
