For the 10th time in the last 11 years Bob Coates Photography has been named Arizona Top Ten Photographer of the Year at the state's annual convention.

Other awards for Coates included first place in the Masters Wedding division with an image of a bride and groom standing in the middle of Oak Creek with the iconic Cathedral Rock as a background.

"I really love this image," Coates said. "It has a bit of whimsy with the title 'A Wee Bit Closer' as the bride and groom are standing on separate rocks leaning in for a kiss. The cool part is as this image progresses through the various print competitions it garners attention for the Sedona wedding market, and we need all the exposure we can get."

An image captured by Coates with two geese facing off in a marsh and titled 'Difference of Opinion got the attention of judge Tom Flora from Oklahoma, who awarded it his judge's choice ribbon.

In another competition, Coates also did well in winning the best Out of State print from the Montana Professional Photographers Association. "This is an award that is very special to me," said Coates with a smile. "This print called 'Flowers for Food Fundraiser' is the depiction of a calendar project I've been working on to raise money for the Meals on Wheels program at the Sedona Community Center In honor of my dad. It scored well and the judges commented on the fact that almost every image in the calendar would score well on it's own. Hopefully as this image wins more awards it will help drive sales and make more money for the Sedona Community Center."
