New general manager for VOCA

Tony Rizzo

Tony Rizzo

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Tony Rizzo and I am the new General Manager for the Village of Oakcreek Association and the Oakcreek Country Club.

I grew up in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, a northern suburb of the Twin Cities where my parents still reside. I am the oldest of five avid golfers and we are all involved, in one way or another, in the golf industry. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a degree in Marketing and Coaching, while playing on the varsity football team.

Believing that business is a lot like team sports, my background in coaching has enhanced my leadership, communication, motivational and people skills.

I began my career with the American Golf Corporation and quickly rose to the position of General Manager, becoming the youngest in the company's 36-year history. I ran four very different courses for American Golf, three as General Manager. I was also Tournament Director for the Long Beach Open and the Regional Marketing Manager.

I left American Golf to partner in and run our family owned golf course, Desert Mirage of Glendale, Arizona. During my tenure at Desert Mirage, I learned how valuable the local community was in the success of our business. We built a strong relationship with the City of Glendale, Local Businesses, The Arizona Golf Association, The First Tee Organization and many others. Through networking and our commitment to great customer service, we were able to establish and grow a strong membership base and a Junior Program that exceeded 300 kids.

My wife, Heather, a Phoenix area Realtor, and I are both looking forward to moving to Sedona and becoming valued members of the community. I have enjoyed meeting some of you already and I look forward to meeting each of you in the near future.
