Letter: Leaving a hole for local veterans

Editor:

Notice to All American Legion and VFW 6739 Veteran’s:

Our Commander David (Haboo) M. Severson & Veterans Service Officer for Post 25 died in the VA Hospital Prescott on Sunday morning April 25 with his wife by his side. Dave was an Honorable Marine, Son, Brother, Husband, Father & Grandfather, disabled in Vietnam but came home and dedicated his life the all Military Men and Women. His community was also a big portion of his life, he started the Verde Valley Veterans Vans about 11 years ago, which takes Veterans to their medical appointment in Phoenix, Prescott and locally, by teaming up with the local towns and cities he was also able to expand the service to help the community get to events or whatever the need may be.

For the last 13 years those who were members of Post 25 Cottonwood and the VFW in Camp Verde have been able to talk with him concerning your VA claims. He has left a big hole in our hearts and a bigger one at the Post & VFW.

For those Veterans who have claims in and need to contact a Service Officer, please contact the following people for an appointment:

Lettie Irons Connell for the American Legion Post 25, Cottonwood, 634-3004 or 567-5012.

For the VFW 6739 Camp Verde, contact Dave Stuart 451-1664 or Jerry Towle 300-0580.

Celebration of Live will be held on May 22. Location and time to be announced. Please watch the newspapers or listen to the radio for that date.
