COTTONWOOD – Larry Wolfe purchased Hooked on Books at 148 S. Main St. in Cottonwood Sept. 1.

The used bookstore had been in business in various locations for about 13 years.

In addition to selling used books, Wolfe offers vintage jewelry and sterling silver and gold. He also offers services for designing and repairing jewelry.

“For 40 years I have done jewelry repair and designing in Northern Illinois,” he said.

He said he manages the business for his family trust.

Working for now with one employee, Wolfe said he believes his primary geographical area for the business is within 25 miles of the store.

“The bookstore has two sections under one roof,” Wolfe said. “The books are predominantly paperbacks in very good condition with a large selection of subject matter.”

He said the store also has an extensive children’s selection. Books are reasonably priced, and he offers reasonable trade-in values.

Jewelry makes up the second section of the store. “There is the extensive collection of vintage jewelry dating from the late 1800s to the present,” he said.

He also offers silver and gold as well as jewelry repair, hand engraving, glass cutting and etching.

Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
