Leon “Gene” Chadwick, 80, of Cottonwood passed away on Tuesday, August 8th, 2011.

He was born on May 4th, 1931 in Salina, Kansas, to Carl and Marie Chadwick. He grew up in a modest household with one sibling, JoAnn. After graduating high school in Salina, he joined the US Air Force in 1950, serving our great country for 20 years.

During an assignment to Freising, Germany, he met Illca, whom he would marry in December of 1964.

They had two children, Glenn and Cheryl, and would eventually live in many places across the country to include Texas, Louisiana, New York, Oklahoma, California, Florida and Georgia.

After retiring from the US Air Force, Gene served another 20 years working for the Federal Aviation Administration. During their final retirement years, Gene and Illca enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, and just being with each other. After 46 years of marriage, his beloved Illca passed away this past April at age 70. Now, Gene has joined Illca again for eternity. They are survived by their two children, four grandchildren, Illca’s mother, and Gene’s sister.

They will forever be missed, remembered, cherished, and loved by their family and friends.
