Letter: National Night Out was a great success

Editor:

After a little bit of rain and winds, the 2011 City of Cottonwood Police Department 28th Annual National Night Out event was a huge success. NNO has become such a great family event each year because of all the great volunteers and sponsors who start working on the event in March of each year; making Cottonwoods Police Department NNO event the largest event north of Anthem.

After being part of the event for the third year I see how the community of Cottonwood and surrounding areas come together for a one night event to heighten Crime and Drug awareness, Generate Support for local anticrime and community programs, Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships.

And most of all to send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back against crime. With the help of over 25 city and county agencies and over 40 sponsors with the help of dozens of volunteers this message was loud and clear.

I applaud Chief Fanning and all the professional Officers and staff of the City of Cottonwood Police Department, sponsors and volunteers for their support of National Night Out and their commitment to its success each year.

I thank everyone who participated in NNO 2011 and look forward to National Night Out 2012.
