Serious Interstate Collision

Montezuma-Rimrock and Pinewood firefighters were dispatched Wednesday night to a two-vehicle accident in the southbound lanes of I-17 north of the Sedona Interchange at MP 306. The two women occupants were flown by helicopter to Flagstaff Medical Center with serious injuries, one by Native Air and the other by Angel-3. The driver was thrown from the vehicle and her passenger had to be extricated, a process that took as long as 45 minutes. DPS shut down I-17 temporarily. A third patient in the second vehicle refused treatment and was placed into custody by DPS.
