Guns from stolen cache show up

CAMP VERDE -- Just after noon Tuesday, a citizen turned over two handguns he found near the bike area off of SR 260, The two guns had been reported guns were reported stolen out of Cottonwood and were turned over to Yavapai County Sheriff's Office. The two guns had been part of a 75 gun collected recently reported stolen.

DUI driver arrested after wreck

CAMP VERDE -- A 53-year-old man was arrested and jailed in the wake of a two-vehicle accident near La Fonda on West Horseshoe Bend Drive Tuesday evening. Bruce Schmal was arrested by Camp Verde Marshal's deputies and charged with DUI and endangerment after the wreck. Schmal's blood alcohol content tested at .168 percent, double the legal limit. He was booked into the county jail.

The 48-year-old driver of the second vehicle was treated and released on the scene.  

Teens stopped for drug abuse

CAMP VERDE -- Three teens were picked up for use of drugs after a traffic stop at the Old Church on SR 260 just before midnight Wednesday.

The 17-year-boy driving the vehicle was charged with one count of DUI drugs, one count of possession and/or use of marijuana, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was transported to the juvenile detention facility in Prescott.

Two passengers, a 16-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were also charged with possession/use of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were issued referrals and released to parents.  The arrests were the result of a traffic stop.
