Clarkdale-Jerome School summer activities

Clarkdale-Jerome School Superintendent Kathleen Fleenor has announced some summer activities occurring now and through the remainder of the summer vacation months.

Summer Academic Program

"We have about 50 students attending and five teachers doing the program from 8 to 11 each Tuesday through Friday," Fleenor said. She said the students are in small groups and work on reading and math and do an art project.

Clarkdale-Jerome Summer Camps

The school will hold its summer camps June 6 through June 17, and July 11 through July 22.

The camp classes go from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day for the basic classes. The children have baseball - softball from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Art is at 11:30 a.m. and clay class is from noon to 1:30 p.m. Basketball is from 1 to 3 p.m.

Solar Panel Installation

"Sometime in July or August, we will get solar panels installed on the top of the gym as the result of an Arizona Schools Facilities Board award to small schools," Fleenor said. "We anticipate it will save us approximately one-third of our electrical bill."

She said the cost is covered by the SFB and is the result of the federal stimulus funds.
