Full Slate of Events for Bent River Books and Music<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->Bent River Books and Music will be the place for great music and literary entertainment this weekend. Starting off Friday night at 6 p.m. Bent River is proud to present Ron McLain in his first appearance on the bookstore&#8217;s new stage. <br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->Ron is a very popular Verde Valley singer-songwriter with a warm and engaging style. <br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->He is also a songwriter for hire and even conducts vortex and medicine wheel tours. Ron has released a CD of his love songs - &#8220;And Then There&#8217;s Love&#8221; - and will be performing many of them Friday night. <br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->Saturday night at 6 p.m. marks the return of Alexander, an exceptionally talented musician with a mastery of several diverse styles including jazz, folk, rock, blues and new age. <br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->He has released CDs - several available at Bent River - that have had national exposure. Alexander recently sat in on Vyktoria Keating&#8217;s very successful Halloween show last Saturday and performs each year at the Bob Dylan Birthday Bash at the OTCA. Join us for a great evening of originals and covers of the great modern songwriters.<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->On Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Bent River will continue it&#8217;s Fall Author Series with Prescott writer Carl Hitchens. Carl will read from his latest book &#8220;Sitting With Warrior&#8221; and will explore the Warrior Nature as an aspect of spiritual consciousness. He will also be available for questions and to sign his book. <br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->Carl is a Native American Vietnam veteran that brings a unique and personal perspective to the relationship of the Warrior to modern society. He placed first in poetry at the 10th Annual Whipple Voices Writing Festival and has also written a book of poems &#8220;Shades of Light.&#8221;<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->Bent River books and Music is located at 1010 N. Main in Old Town Cottonwood. Their regular hours are 10-6 Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 12-5 p.m. Sundays. <br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->Contact (928) 634-8332 for more information. Refreshments and drinks are available, all events are free with a suggested donation for the musicians.
