Charles (Chuck) Albert Leonard Moore of Cottonwood, Arizona died on Sunday, November 27 at age 91. 

He was born in LaPorte, Indiana on January 8, 1920 to LeRoy and Bonnie B. (Pease) Moore.  Chuck grew up in Puddle Town, Indiana; and, he married Rosalie Chapin in 1942. 

He was inducted as a “Rifleman” on Dec. 29, 1942, and was assigned to 106th Infantry Division, 423d Regiment, U.S. Army.  Captured at the Battle of the Bulge on December 19, 1944, becoming a Prisoner of War/Missing in Action soldier until -- after two attempts -- he escaped on May 7, 1945. He received an Honorable Discharge October 12, 1945 -- along with the Good Conduct Medal, three Purple Hearts, and the European African Mid-Eastern Service Medal with Bronze Star. He held the title of POW-MIA proudly.

After his tour of duty, Chuck returned to Indiana to continue his profession as a Brick and Stone Mason and became a Brick Mason Construction Supervisor.  Chuck and Rose were married 33 years.

Chuck then married Wilma [Willie] (Erickson) Peterson and gained 2 sons (Brian and Bradley) and 3 daughters (Janyce, Rogene, and Terri). They were married 18 years.

Chuck moved to Cottonwood Arizona in 1985; and, became a frequent visitor and daily icon of the American Legion Post #25 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #7400.

Chuck “robbed the cradle” and married Norma (Jacob) Phillips (12 years his senior) on April 20, 2005. Again, gaining 2 sons (Terry and Jerry) and 1 daughter (Pamela) in this union.

Chuck is survived by wife Norma (Phillips) Moore; brother Gene and wife Janiece Moore, Sun City, AZ; sister-in-law Ethel Moore, Sun City, AZ; daughter Sherry L. (Moore) and husband Ronald G. Cornelis, So. Bend, IN; son Charles A. L. Moore Jr and wife Terri (Peterson), Radcliff, KY; son Lonnie G. Moore and wife Candy (Diamond), Cottonwood, AZ; and, son J Jeffery Moore and wife Patricia (Radtke), Rimrock, AZ.  Preceded in death: parents LeRoy and Bonnie; wife Rosalie, wife Wilma; and, brother William.  Chuck’s lineage includes: 16 Grandchildren; 30 Great-Grandchildren; and, 10 Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the American Legion Post #25, 480 C. Calvary Way, Cottonwood, Arizona on December 3, 2011.  The VFW Honor Guard will preside over the event.  Followed by potluck in the Hall.
