After a stroke suffered a year ago, Edward G. Escalante passed away peacefully at his home in Cottonwood Nov. 11, 2011. Eddie was born in Glendale, AZ, April 18,1926, and a lifelong resident of the Verde Valley.
He was one of nine children, all preceding him in death, born to the late Miguel Buelna Escalante and Leonor Rios Garcia. He was the beloved husband of Mary Ernestine Valenzuela for over 62 years.
Eddie will forever be remembered by his devoted children; Ed and wife Barbara of Asheville, NC, Tom and wife Cheryl of Cottonwood and his remaining treasured grandchildren Marion and Mark Petersen, Miranda, Megan, Jadrian and Rebecca Escalante and Christian and Donavan who preceded him in death. He also leaves three great grandchildren along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him.
He was a WWII Army Veteran serving at the Nuremberg Trials and a past member and leader of the local BPOE Elks Lodge #1361. Eddie was an avid reader, loved fishing, gardening, carpentry, and playing guitar & singing mariachi music, performing professionally in his early life. He was the owner of Eddie’s Plumbing that served the Verde Valley for over 30 years.
Eddie touched the lives of many people with his sweet disposition and generosity.
