Quail Country Quilters presents a biennial quilt show "The Quilted Jewels." The dates are Friday, Oct. 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Quilted Jewels is this year's raffle quilt and will be on display during the show. It was designed and sewn by a committee of guild members. It is appraised at $3,800. The pattern is a stunning Triple Chain with appliquéd flowers in the border and quilted by Bev Lawrence. The size is a large queen. Winner need not be present.
This show will be held at Cottonwood Middle School at 500 E. Mingus Ave. in Cottonwood. Take 89A and 260 to Main St. and go west to Mingus Ave. Cottonwood Middle School is located just beyond the Post Office. Park either in front or back and proceed to the gymnasium. Watch for directional signs.
They have over 200 entries that include a wide variety of bed quilts, small quilts, wall hangings, and wearable art. Many quilts include traditional patterns and many are original designs. Techniques such as machine pieced, appliqué, quilting, and hand pieced, appliqué, quilting are represented. There will be much to delight viewers as they walk through the show.
In addition to the show there will be a boutique of many hand-crafted items made by our guild members for sale. We have held many workshops the past two years to make interesting and unusual items and this year we will have many quilts of various sizes to sell. There also will be vendors selling various items from their stores. Come and do some Christmas shopping.
Quail Country Quilters have about 90 members from every community in the area and meet the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 9:30 to noon at the VFW Hall in Cottonwood. The show will reflect the diversity and skill of the different types of quilting as well as our quilters. Anyone is welcome to attend the meetings.
The admission for the show is $5 for adults, $2 for students 9-18, under 8 and over 80 are free. Admission includes $1 off of $10 or more at the boutique.
