For parents looking for safe places for their young children to enjoy the tradition of Halloween and trick-or-treating, Sedona, Cottonwood and Camp Verde all offer organized events to entertain youngsters and their parents.
25th annual Safe
& Fun Trick or Treat
in Uptown Sedona
Come to Uptown Sedona for Safe & Fun Trick or Treating on Halloween (Monday Oct. 31) from 5-8 p.m. There will be treats at the doorways all along "Main Street" on SR 89A on both sides of the street, from the shops at Hyatt Pinon Pointe up to Goldenstein Gallery and back. Storefronts will be decorated and owners and employees will be in costume.
Thriller and Ghost Rave dance performances will take place from 5-8 p.m. at C-Market, at the corner of SR 89A and Jordan Road. Get ready to be mesmerized by these individual dancers from the community. They come together for many rehearsals in preparation for this special event.
Parking is available in Uptown Municipal Parking Lot (on Schnebly Road), and all along SR 89A in Uptown and in parking lots at plazas and shops. This free event is presented by the Uptown Sedona merchants and coordinated by Sedona Main Street Program for anyone young at heart.

Cottonwood's 16th annual
The Cottonwood Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor the 16th Annual Free Fall Carnival from 6-9 p.m. in the Old Town Activity Park on Halloween. Everyone is welcome, in costume or not.
Prizes go to first, second and third place in two age groups and five categories. The age groups are for 2 to 7 year olds and for 8 to 12 year olds.
The categories this year will be Arizona Centennial, Scariest, Prettiest, Most Original and Best Overall.
There will be plenty of candy, inflatable rides and hay rides.
Bring the whole family down to Old Town and enjoy an evening of fun family activities.
Old Town Association's Safe Street Trick or Treat
The Old Town Association is once again sponsoring Safe Street Trick or Treat on Halloween beginning at 5 p.m. All merchants will have candy to hand out.
Special this year will be Centennial trick or treating at the Old Town Jail. Kids who come dressed in historical costumes will get a "special" goody bag.
Camp Verde Trunk
or Treat Main Street
Camp Verde Parks & Recreation is hosting the Fifth Annual Trunk or Treat Main Street, (previously known as Trick or Treat Main Street), on Halloween from 5-8 p.m. Main Street will be closed to allow safe trick or treating that the whole family can enjoy.
If you are a business owner, club, school, church or just a family who enjoys fun, then come out and be part of this great event. Open doors to your business, set up a candy table, provide a game or park your car and throw open your trunk. This is a great way for us to provide our community children with a well-lit, safe place to trick or treat.
Parks & Recreation is holding a candy drive to provide all participants with some candy. Candy can be dropped off at the Parks & Recreation office at 395 S. Main, Monday through Thursday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Pet Adoption Trick or Treat Halloween for Dogs
The Wild West Warehouse at 2575 SR 89A in Sedona is hosting a Pet Adoption Trick or Treat Halloween for Dogs with the Humane Society of Sedona and the RV that is ready to hit the road with animals in need of adoption or fostering. The RV will be on site at the Wild West Warehouse on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
They will have dogs and cats in need of foster homes. If you would like exploring the possibilities of fostering or adopting come meet and talk to the volunteers who are familiar with the dogs and cats. They can help you find the right pet that fits your needs.
The Humane Society will set up on the outdoor courtyard with animals looking for their forever homes, or even for temporary homes for fostering.
Bring your dog by in a Halloween costume for a treat and to show off its attire.
Jerome Fire Department
Dance at Spook Hall
The Jerome Fire Department will hold its annual Halloween Dance Saturday from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Spook Hall in Jerome. Featured entertainment will be The Cadillac Angels.
As always there will be a costume contest and prizes. A full bar will be available but identification is required.
Tickets will be sold at the door and will cost $10 per person.
