Louise Connell 1922 - 2012

Louise Connell passed away on April 15, 2012 in Cottonwood, Arizona. Louise was born in Yonkers, New York on Aug. 23, 1922 to John and Louise Fitzpatrick. She was married to Robert Connell on May 13, 1950 in Yonkers, New York. During her lifetime, Louise lived in Yonkers, New York; Klamath Falls, Oregon; and Sierra Vista, Clarkdale, Prescott Valley and Cottonwood, Arizona.

She was the last of her seven brothers and sisters to pass on. Louise is survived by her four children: Robert Connell, Flagstaff; Rita Connell, Phoenix; Dorothy DeSylvester, Cottonwood; and Alice Connell, Mayer, Arizona; daughter-in-law, Julie Connell, Flagstaff, Arizona; and son-in-law, Raymond DeSylvester, Cottonwood, Arizona. She leaves three granddaughters: Jennifer Pixler, Portland, Oregon; Mallory and Lauren Connell, Flagstaff, Arizona.

Louise graduated from high school in Yonkers, New York and took college classes at Cochise College in Sierra Vista, Arizona. She was an executive secretary at Ft. Huachuca, Az. until her retirement. As a youth she enjoyed playing tennis and was an avid ice skater. As an adult, Louise enjoyed taking rides with her family to ghost towns in Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada. She loved collecting rocks and delighted in her plants and garden. She instilled a reverence for nature and a love of books in her children. She was very creative and had a real knack for crafts and decorating. She corresponded with friends around the country by letter and email. She and her beloved husband, Robert, enjoyed daily walks together, taking in gardens and sunsets. Louise was a devoted Catholic and former parishioner of St. Germaine Catholic Church in Prescott Valley, Az.

Louise made the world a better place with her kindness and love of life. She will long be remembered and cherished.

Memorial Service will be held on Weds., April 25, 2012 at 2:30pm at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 23029 North Cave Creek Road in Phoenix, Arizona.
