2012: VVMC teams with UofA on cancer care

Verde Valley Medical Center and the Cancer Centers of Northern Arizona Healthcare – Sedona have elevated the level of cancer care available in the Verde Valley through an affiliation agreement with the University of Arizona Cancer Center.

The affiliation is the only one like it in Central and Northern Arizona and leverages the strengths of these respected and established organizations to expand treatment options for cancer patients throughout the region.

Through the affiliation, CCNAH-Sedona patients have access to leading-edge research trials as well as the expertise of the UACC’s nationally and internationally renowned physician and scientist members.

Together the centers bring the power of research, a world-renowned medical team and the most current treatment options to cancer patients through onsite, phone and telemedicine medical education and consultations. UACC staff works directly with CCNAH staff and local physicians to develop multidisciplinary cancer treatment plans geared toward the individual needs of each patient based on best practice guidelines.

Established in 1995, CCNAH-Sedona provides radiation services with board-certified oncologists and specialty trained nurses who utilize the most current technologies. Medical oncology services are provided by Arizona Oncology.

Since 1976, UACC has conducted research designed to both prevent and cure cancer. The UACC is one of just 41 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the United States and the only such center based in the state of Arizona.

With primary locations in Tucson and Phoenix, the UACC has more than a dozen research and education offices throughout the state and 300 physician and scientist members who work together to prevent and cure cancer. For more information on UACC, visit arizonacancercenter.org.

CCNAH-Sedona is a part of Verde Valley Medical Center, an affiliate of Northern Arizona Healthcare. For more information on CCNAH-Sedona, visit CCNAH.com or call 928 204-4160.
