Update: Thurman secures GOP nod for Dist. 2 county supervisor

Incumbent Yavapai County Supervisor Thomas Thurman has secured the Republican nomination for the newly created District 2 seat.

This primary marks the first time in Yavapai County's history that voters have elected five members to the county's board of supervisors.

The newly created district 2 includes portions of the Verde Valley, primarily in the Camp Verde area. It goes south to Black Canyon City and to the west includes Dewey-Humboldt and portions of Prescott Valley. Thurman crafted the district lines during the redistricting process.

Returns as of Wednesday morning, with 107 of 107 precincts reporting, show Thurman an easy winner in the District 2 race with 2,571 votes, easily outdistancing John McReynolds of Camp Verde (1,461 votes) and Martin Pangburn (554 votes).
