Roger Brackney, 87, of Lake Montezuma passed away on December 11, 2012.

Roger was raised in South East Minneapolis and was a graduate of Marshall High School in 1943. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1944 to 1946, he was a Purple Heart recipient for injuries sustained during the battle of Iwo Jima.

Roger returned to Minneapolis where he started his wholesale business and raised his family in Minneapolis/ Bloomington, Minnesota until retired to Arizona in 1984 where he continues to enjoy traveling the world over. Roger enjoyed spending time with family and friends while pursing his love of birding, gardening, playing cards and outdoor sportsman activities.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father and his brother, Emmert (Jane).

He is survived by wife of 54 years, Ann; his daughter, Jill Axe (David); his son, Charles Brackney (Peggy); his daughter, Susan Lovett (Jerry); his sisters, Judy Waring (Phil) and Marna Woelm (Terry) along with 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on December 15, 2012 at the Veterans Administration Hospital Chapel in Prescott, Arizona with a private gathering of friends and family.
