Yavapai-Apache Nation hosts Exodus Day Commemoration <br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->Feb. 25<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->The Yavapai-Apache Nation will host its annual Exodus Day Commemoration Event at the Nation’s Veteran’s Memorial Park located below the Cliff Castle Casino. The event commemorates the forced removal of the Yavapai and Apache People from their homeland in 1876 and the subsequent return of approximately 200 members to their homeland beginning in the early 1900s. <br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->The Yavapai-Apache Nation invites the public to join them during the commemoration event. <br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->There will be a Spirit Run at 6 a.m. starting at the Junction of State Route 87 and 260. A private traditional blessing ceremony in Boynton Canyon is at sunrise.<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->At 8 a.m. Native American artist/food booths are set up at Veteran’s Memorial Park below the casino in Camp Verde. The Commemorative Walk and March begins at 10 a.m. A traditional luncheon that is free to the public is at noon, followed by the commemorative ceremony and entertainment.
